Contradiction on the open web
recastwise.com claims Wells Fargo requires a $20,000 minimum. Wells Fargo's own page states $10,000 and no fee.
Escrow
Escrow is handled separately from the re-amortized P&I. A recast fixes principal and interest. It does not fix the escrow portion of your bill, which is billed separately and can still move with taxes and insurance.
Worth knowing
The only party in this market that states plainly that recasting does not reduce total interest.
Price a recast on these rules
The calculator prefills Wells Fargo's no-fee policy and warns below their $10,000 minimum.
